New Hope Church of God in Christ was founded on December 11, 1978 by the late Elder C.W. Williams. This establishment was located at 250 N. Kendall Street in the city of Battle Creek, Michigan. Elder Williams was a holy and peaceful man who quoted Hebrews 12:14, “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”

Due to family medical circumstances, Elder Williams was led to move to warmer climates. Though we were all saddened by the move, Elder Williams reassured us that his successor was not only a true friend but, a God fearing and qualified man who would carry on the vision of New Hope. Elder Bobby L. Moore was appointed as the new pastor. On May 2, 1984 Elder Bobby L. Moore was officially installed as the pastor of New Hope C.O.G.I.C. Many changes occurred, the church prospered and grew. Elder Moore was a man full of love for people and he had total faith in God. Elder Moore had a vision of increase; he wanted to build a bigger facility for the growing church. On August 21, 1998 a groundbreaking ceremony was held on the new location for New Hope C.O.G.I.C. The vision of increase was becoming a reality. On July 23, 2000 New Hope held its first worship service in the new and current location of 619 North Washington Avenue.

On October 6, 2008, Pastor Moore passed away leaving New Hope C.O.G.I.C. in mourning and with no pastor. Though the edifice was incomplete, New Hope believed in miracles. On July 16, 2009, Elder Ricky L. Bradley was appointed as the new Pastor. Pastor Bradley was no stranger to New Hope C.O.G.I.C. He became a new creation under the leadership of the late Elder Bobby Moore. Pastor Bradley worked diligently and closely with Elder Moore; he understood the dream and vision of the church.

On April 7, 2019, New Hope C.O.G.I.C name changed to Masterpiece Creation Church of God in Christ.
